Retrieving data from damaged memory stick.

Hello
Does anyone know what to do when your memory stick acts up. I've alot of data on it. The light on it comes on when you put it into the usb connection, but nothing else happens. It did n't get wet or damaged or anything like that. And no I have no backup of it. Any help appreciated.
