Hi, had a conversation with my Mum that concerned me, she said revenue were still sending out requests for my Dad to file his tax returns - he has been retired for some years now. They ended up paying accountant/bookkeeper to "send something in". I assumed my Dad hadn't deregistered properly - but My mum expects to still get the same letters from revenue next year. Tbh I am suspicious of someone charging them money to liase with revenue. Surely they shouldn't be getting letters from revenue any longer? My mum works part time, PAYE. My Dad has OAP and small UK pension. Why do they still have to declare to revenue? I couldn't get sense out of my Mum, didn't want it to end in a row :)

Are you sure they've done so in respect of income tax? Or perhaps their application to deregister from income tax has been refused by Revenue?

They will need to check this with their accountant or whoever files their returns.

Revenue could be asking for a Form 12 each year, or if the UK income exceeds €3,174 they would properly remain in the system as chargeable persons for income tax purposes. More info needed.
