Hi,

Does anybody know if you report tax evasion, when the person are being investigated are they told that the Revenue got an anonmyous tip off? Also, if you sent an anonmyous letter would the suspect ever get a copy of the letter?

Is there any other way to report tax evasion anonmyously? What level of detail do you need to give?

I would imagine they would respect your wishes. Here's the numbers required. I suggest you simply ring up and enquire and dont give any details that would 'out' you unless you are satisfied that they will keep your anonymity.

Thanks for that! I'll give them a call and see how I get on.

Just out of interest do you think I should tell them things that only I would know, for example that he has a bank account in his mothers name where the tax free cash goes? Because if he finds out they were told that chances are he'll guess it was me, or should I just rely on the fact that they'll find it during the course of their investigation anyway?
