Replacing 26 Year Old Window Blinds

Mrs C has decided that it's time to replace our window blinds after 26 years of service
Now there is nothing wrong with the blinds themselves as in they all work perfectly it's just their starting to look really jaded colour wise and a little worn
We had three guys out to quote, one couldn't quote because two windows were over 2Mtrs wide, the second guys price was too rich for my liking
but the third guy is able to do it for a reasonable price albeit after a 20% discount which was proffered without any suggestion on our side

But a couple of questions have arisen that I'd like peoples opinions on

All three of them were saying that the chain operated system is the way to go as the new spring system is not as durable as the ones I have
I have used the chain system in other peoples houses and I get the feeling that the durability isn't there either but probably more important is that
I just don't like them compared to the spring system that I have at the moment

The third guy is open to the idea of keeping the original hardware and just replacing the blind material but without any warranty which is understandable
and has also offered a further 20% discount for going down this route which makes it even an even more attractive proposition

So my questions are,
Has anybody gone from the spring system to chain and regrated the move??
Is the durability of the new spring system an issue or should I just go with replacing the blinds on my 26 year old rollers??

Replace the whole thing.

After 26 years it owes you nothing.

You're paying a premium to have someone measure & fit; you're not really getting a better product. Roller blinds are roller blinds.

If you have someone in NI who can take a delivery, there's good value to be had ordering online from the UK.

Alternatively take a trip to the Fabric Outlet in Newbridge Co. Kildare, bring your measurements & see what the numbers look like.

@Cervelo are you based near Navan at all?
Highly recommend Dun a Ri Blinds - Beechmount Homepark
We got a whole new set of blinds for the house, metal chain system, no issues, great quality and service, highly recommend them.
They are in the house 3.5 years now and not one single issue.

I have chain blinds in my bedroom and spring in the office, I do prefer the spring system in my office to be honest. But you can buy motors for chain ones, and I'm contemplating buying two for the bedroom blinds and hooking them up to my Google Home morning routine.

If you're handy about the house, I would go with Blinds2go over a Home Focus or equivalent. The only benefit with going in shop is they'll eat the replacement cost if they mess up the measurements.
