Replaced storage heater ... Is this considered a "fitting"?

I've had to replace a storage heater in an apartment I own. Would this be considered a "fitting"? If this is correct, I assume that this can be expensed over 8 years. Is this correct?

I've seen different opinions on this type of expense. Some say write it off as a f&f over 8 years and others say it could come in under repairs and maintenance and write off the total in the year the "repair" happened.
 
A replacement is not a repair.

You need to claim Capital allowances for this.

Capital items are written off over 8 years for tax, but Revenue items go in the P&L.

Capital items are items (not used for stock) which are capable of lasting 12 months or more. Therefore a storage heater is a capital item.

However, if very small amounts of money are involved they are usually put in the P&L.

Supply and fit cost €590. Based on this, should I write it off over 1 year or 8 years?
 
I would suggest over 8 years generally for replacements, unless the amount involved was less than €100.
