I received an email from inspex.ie that they have been contracted by South Dublin Council to inspect private rented properties (I am a landlord).
Is this compulsory and backed up by legislation or penalties for ignoring?

I dont have anything to hide, just wondering about the basis of this and if I have to go to the trouble of organising a time and date with my tenant.
Thanks

If your tenant is in receipt of council support (usually HAP), then they are entitled to arrange an inspection.

Note that they can stop rent if they find issues, so make sure you can tick all the boxes in the minimum standards noting that window locks and ventilation are common issues the inspectors pick up on (few previous threads on that here)
