rental income and dole

Hi i am due to finish my current contract in a few weeks time, then i will be unemployed for a few months at least, however i also receive about 4,000 per year in income from rent which i have no loan repayments on, is it possible for me to receive dole even though i will be receiving this income also at the end of year and will be including it in my tax return

I don't think Unemployment Benefit is means tested ?

When you say dole it usually implies Assistance which is a means tested payment and as you have a property other than own home this would disqualify you from Assistance. It is more likely as you have been working that you may be entitled to Jobseekers Benefit which is based on PRSI payments and is therefore not means tested. Your rental income should not affect this,however jobseekers benefit is a taxable payment
