Hi,

I have just been made redundant from my job which I've had for four years since college.

I am going to apply for JSB, but my question is am I entitled to the rent suppliment? My lease is up now and I would like to move into a place with my girlfriend. She is working as a teacher.

I'am going to claim my rent and medical from the revenue and also any tax refunds due at the end of the year. Is there anything I've forgotten?

If you move into accommodation with your girlfriend who is working full time you will not be entitled to Rent Supplement as her income will be assessed against you. Rent Supplement is means-tested (unlike your JSB which will be based on your PRSI contributions).
