Rent supplement -backdated?

I have been on illness benefit since nov '08. I was informed that I may qualify for rent supplement assessed by my local community welfare officer by a friend. I am currently paying rent monthly to my landlord. Am I entitled to rent supplement backdated?

You can only qualify from the date you apply to the CWO, it can't be backdated prior to then even if you may have had an entitlement.
