Rent relief

Hi just a quick question my girlfriend works for a foreign govt and pays tax to her home country in europe. She cant get rent relief due to this.I am claiming the rent relief from the revenue for half of the rent. can I put down the whole amount on the form or what checks are involved in the revenue's case? sorry just dont want to send in form for the whole amount and then its refused and delays the process. ....does anyone know how long it takes? apologies if posted somewhere else.

Does the claim form not clarify? I would imagine that you can only claim relief in respect of the rent that you actually pay out of your own pocket. On the other hand rent relief is capped so perhaps even your 50% (?) share of your total rent would still qualify you for the maximum tax credit?

As you are a single person you can only claim your share of the rent.
