I own my own home (mortgage obviously). My boyfriend is going to move in and pay me rent, I was going to get somebody else to rent out a room but this just made sense. Can he still claim rent relief eventhough im his GF or would it cause problems?
Im in a similar situation with my GF - she's sent off the forms and Ive sent off my 12A form. I didnt think it would cause any problems because were not married. Does anyone else know?
If social welfare do any investigating and discover she's your girlfriend they'd stop her rent relief and her dole. They have been known to ask neighbours questions about a couple's relationship. If you move in together you are cohabiting couple and considered married for SW purposes. Her dole would be means tested against your wages.
