Rent credits

[Tricky one]

hi, I am wondering if I can claim rent credits in my income return if I live in Northen Ireland and drive to Dublin and other areas for a work on daily basis and business office is in Dublin?
Thanks for any advice.

From the Revenue website http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/credits/rent-credit.html

Rent payable for premises outside the State is also allowable (No Territorial limit).

I presume you would need to be tax resident in the Republic of Ireland in order to claim it but I haven't got the legislation with me to check it tonight.

Well, this is Irish business and registred in Ireland, so I guess I am entitled. Thanks for reply daxve

I'm not sure that I correctly understood your situation but thought I should clarify something: the rent credit is available for private rented accommodation- you cannot claim a credit for renting a business premises.
However the rent you pay on your buisiness premises is deductible when calculating your trading income/ loss.
