Me and a friend have recently rented an one bedroom apartment together, and want to apply for rent allowance. I am on Jobseekers Allowance, while he is on Back to Education. I am female, and have the bedroom, while he is on a bed in the living room. The bathroom is accessed through my room. The apartment is very large, and we have known each other for a few years, so the situation suits us both. We couldn't afford a decent two bed so we went for this. However, a friend told me that the rent allowance people will probably think we are a couple when they see we share a one bedroom apartment, although we are not. I didn't think there should be a problem, but am worried since it was pointed out to me. Anyone in a similar situation, or have any experience of this? Any advice much welcome
