renovating house for rent

I own a house in the country. It is in good structural repair but needs alot of decorating and furnishing. It is in the country in laois. I am wondering whether it is worth renovating to a standard where it is rentable. Up to now I have been reluctant to do this due to the huge numbers of vacant houses in the country. I know there is a good rental market in the cities and big towns but what about stand alone houses in the country. Anyone have any ideas

I know a local house, in need of repair inside id imagine as outside was so overgrown. Advert up looking for someone to move in and repair as part of the rent. You should see it now. The owner inherited the house and the deal was hed supply materials if n when needed, it worked out the lad that rented was great for getting stuff second hand and so ended up buying the stuff n the landlord gave
him it back.
