Renewing pet insurance a while before renewal date.

Just wondering, if anyone can confirm, if we were to renew our pet insurance when we receive the renewal notice, which can sometimes be a month in advance, what would happen if the pet died before the renewal date? Would the insurance company be obliged to refund the premium?

You need to check T&C's, tho in fairness were your pet to pre-decease the renewal, it would be hard for the insurer to justify keeping the premium. Why not just wait and renew on the renewal date?

When our dog died last year we had just renewed a few weeks beforehand. Allianz cancelled the policy and gave us a pro rata refund. We paid monthly rather than up front.
