Beanóg,
The following 3 plans are worth considering;
1. VHI One Plan 250; price 832pa; all public and private hospitals covered,(including Mater Private Cork and Bons Secours Cork and all other
public and private hospitals in Cork and beyond. Private hospital excess capped at 250 x 2 max per year for all admissions. Day case excess
150 per procedure. Limited day to day cover on this plan.
2. Laya Essential Health 300; price 895pa; all public, private and Beacon hospital Dublin covered, private excess capped at 300 x 2 max for all
admissions per year, day case excess 125 per procedure. Limited day to day cover on this plan.
3. Irish Life Benefit plan; price 899pa; all public, private and Beacon hospital dublin covered, private excess capped at 200 x 2 max per year for
all admissions, day case excess 125 per procedure. Limited day to day cover on this plan.

Note; If hip or knee replacement surgery is important, option 2 Laya Essential Health 300 is the best plan. Full cover for ortho surgery on this
plan. A shortfall of 6000 applies to VHI One Plan 250 and a co-payment of 2000 applies to Irish Life Benefit plan.
Cheaper plans would have a higher excess; for example VHI One Plan 500; price 715pa. Same as One Plan 250 except excess amount 500 x 2
for all admissions. Other cheap plans would have a selected list of public and private hospitals, not all Cork private hospitals would be covered
on some plans. So there would be a compromise involved.
