I have 900mm of wine rack and plate rack. I'd like something more practical but the kitchen is yellowed with time so replacement units would stick out a mile.
I'd suggest you don't try to blend in with existing units, but go for something else altogether. For ideas you could look at the Grundtal series from IKEA - basically you can put a rail (or rails) up on the wall and hang lots of useful things from it (or them).
