removing permanent marker

my 2 yr old drew on the living room wall with black permanent marker, i tried sanding it off and painting over it but it still came through, then i replastered over it and it still came through that. has anyone any other ideas , the wall is cream.
 
Try a paint specialist store as I'm sure I saw some kind of blocker product for use in such circumstances

i would guess you did that with emulsion.
if that's the case, cover the mark with oil-based paint (e.g. paint for interior/exterior metal & wood), let dry , and then paint with your emulsion.
 
Most grafitti removers will take it off no bother. Nitromors might even do trick i'd say..
 
thanks really appreciate all your tips, it was emulsion, but i will give them all a go. with a bit of luck one of them will work
 
TIP: if you write on a white board with a permanent marker by mistake and it dries you will get it off by scribbling over it with a white board marker and then wiping off as usual, any help?
 
Try ringing Hy Chem supplies in Clonshaugh 01 8670000, although they are mainly wholesale, the guys there are extremely helpful and have some good products for getting rid of various marks. Personally I am in the carpet cleaning business so don't have call for this sort of remover but I do remember there telling me about a product called "solvant sec" which was supposed to be great at getting rid of permanent marker ink.

I think this is a very bad idea as emulsion won't take over gloss.
 
Stain block might work though - and it's ok to paint emulsion over that.

You'll get it in any decent DIY store - or maybe even just a paint shop.
 
your ideas are great, dont know which one to go with though, but ill keep them all at hand and if one doesnt work theres plenty here that might. thanks
