Removing a Radiator

I need to remove a radiator in the bathroom to do some tiling behind it. It's a standard rad with two copper pipes going in from both sides from the floor. How do I go about turning it off so that that it can be removed; I know there is a valve that needs to be turned but I can't remember how to do it.
Do I need to drain the rad before I re-attach it when finished?

turn off the valves at both sides. to test , try putting on the heating. you should feel hot water as far as the pipe going in to the rad. when you are sure the rad is off, open the bleed valves and then slowly undo the big nuts on the rad side of the pipe one at a time. i think you can get specially formed plastic trays in b&q for catching the stinky water that will come out.
