Hi folks im Self Employed Plumber and just wondering why Revenue is asking to pay this way i used to send a bank draft and put my name and pps number on it ,

it says on the letter that Revenue has introduced a new secure online payment facility via my Account for customers that do not hold an active ROS Digital Certificate ?

Is this a Tax Clearance Cert because my accountant told me that i do not need this TAX Clearance Cert anymore and Gave me a Tax Clearance Number

Any help appreciated

It's easier, safer and cheaper for Revenue to handle electronic payments. It's also easier, safer and cheaper for you too.

I don't really understand the remainder of your question.

A tax clearance certificate was a paper certificate that was sent out by Revenue. This has moved to an online system and Revenue no longer issue these paper certificates.

A ROS digital certificate is completely different. This is a certificate that is downloaded to your computer as part of registering for ROS. This enables you to log into your account on ROS.

its strange because a lot of Self Employed people i know never recieved that letter
a letter saying reminder to pay tax electronically and how to make payments etc

Because the vast majority of self employed people are registered for ROS and have a digital certificate....
