"Regolding" Jewellery

My wife has an old watch which was gold plated. It is now starting to show signs of wear. I have asked several jewellers can this be "regolded" but no luck so far.

I have been told that up to a few years ago it could be done but that they don't do it anymore.

Anyone know where it is could still be done.
