Is it still possible to open an account with any stockbroking firm, who will register stock in own name and issue share certificates. I would personally like to receive annual reports and attend AGMs.
 
Yes, but mainly for Irish and UK companies.

Try Campbell O'Connor who are happy to do this for private investors.
