Refused Rent Allowance

Does any body know if we are entitled to rent allowance, my girfriend left her council house, to move up nearer to me and i moved in with her at Christmas. I lost my job also in January so we went to get rent allowance and were refused, we have two children, and we went to put our names down for a council house we were refused, because they said she had giving up her house in Kilkenny, we were not entitled to housing in Durrow, i am still unemployed and we have not been able to pay our rent for last three months Landlord has now giving us notice to leave, we did appeal the decision for Rent but were turned down again, as we are been told we are not entitled to Rent allowance unless we are on a council list is this true

Well looks like your not entitled to it if the officer said it and the appeals officer agreed? Were they not able to offer you more advice?

There was a thread on this very recently. Do a search and you may find it. My understanding was that in order to get rent allowance you have to be on a co council list now before you can get it.

I don't understand how someone gives up a county council house? Is this a house that she owned? Can she move back to it?
