Redundancy service

Hi,

I would appreciate some advice.
I was been made redundant last week after a long length of service.
I have worked for the company for 18 years in total.
After 9 years service I took one year off and went to Australia for a years holiday and did not do any work. Before the year was up I received a call from the job offering my position back, to which I readily agreed

I know I am probably whistling in the wind but I am recieving 9 years redundancy payment and I was wondering if there was any reason why my total 18 years should be condsidered. To be honest I feel like I have no case but my immediate boss (ex) actually recommended that I should get some legal advice regarding this.

Thanks in anticipation

You might find a particular determination of EAT interesting. See [broken link removed] and search for case number RP529/2008 Hearing Number 32857 heard in Dublin on January 23rd.
Compare your break in employment to this similar case.
Regards.

That's really helpful Headache, thanks for taking the time to reply.

It just might be worth my while investing a couple of hundred euro visiting a solicitor.

Thanks again!
