Can someone please advise on redeployment -

I was of the impression, if you refused an offer of redeployment you would NOT be entitled to redundancy.. I want to be very clear on how I go about this - Where do I go for sound advise ? (not approaching the company)

Should the new position be the same as what you are doing at the moment? Should the benefits be the same ie, pension, bonus, etc

How exactly do you compare - what is the overview of comparing - please help - sorry if i am not making too much sense!!!
 
The trade unions are very well up this issue.

I think there are two aspects to it:

The statutory obligations of the employer and..
Any negotiated agreement with individual employees and/or their representatives (trade unions), such agreements often go beyond the statutory obligations.

I'd like to re-ask the same question as the OP as the answer is not clear to me : is it true that if "if you refused an offer of redeployment you would NOT be entitled to redundancy"? I am a full time employee of over 10 years. If some of a group of people are laid off and the rest are re-deployed to other positions, are those re-deployed obliged to take these other positions or can they still claim redundancy? Or does it depend totally on the employer? How simialr must the new positions be to the olds positions? There is no union in my company. Thanks.

As a general rule, where the terms and conditions offered are different from those of the existing job, the offer must be of “suitable employment” for that employee. Otherwise it would seem that a redundancy situation is involved i.e. where there is a material deterioration in the terms and conditions of employment
