Recruitment agencies pricing

Does anyone know what pricing system recruitment agencies use when finding potential employees for permanent positions?

Is it a flat fee, % of salary offered? Also, is there an refund option if the employee leaves or doesn't work out within a certain time frame? Thanks for the help.

It depends on the agency, but I have been quoted up to 30% of the new employee's wage.

If I remember correctly the agency only got the full fee if the person stayed for more than 6 months.

It's probably a lot cheaper to use a job website.

30%!!! Wow that's a lot higher than I thought. With the huge number of unemployed and few jobs going I thought agencies rates would come down.

The person I know who may be hiring doesn't have the the time to advertise/vet candidates and job spec is quite specific.

Well if she has money to burn, agencies will get the job done.

Cash rich, time poor isn't the worst way to be.

30% is high. You should be able to get it cheaper but it depends on the role. The more specialised it is, the more expensive it is.

and i agree with you sunny that 30% is more but all these money depends on position for which you are applying but one thing i want to share with you all that before giving the money you should confirm each and every thing about that agency.

I recently spoke to [broken link removed] (no affiliation). They provide a good service where for a set fee e.g. €795 for salaries 30k-50k; they will advertise your role across many of the job websites for 1 month, they will filter CV's according to specific criteria which you set and will then forward a small short list of candidates. If you are not successful in placing a candidate within one month, you get your money back, or the option to re-place your advertisement for a further 30 days, or to use it as a credit for a future role advertisement. To me it seems like a no-brainer, the only catch for this one is that you pay in advance, but the fees are far lower than a standard agency.

I work as a director of an accounting agency.
30% is nuts. It's unheard of in today's Market unless you were doing an international search for an MD level candidate.

More typical is 15% with 10-12.5% not unheard of at junior levels (<50,000).

Obviously it's success only and free to see what an agency can offer.

Regarding webrecruit, you are not getting anyone to actually do a search for you, just firing loads of cvs at you at ever level which may work, but it may not. If you were looking to do it as cheap as possible, I would try a couple of approaches:

Put a free ad on gumtree- you will get cvs from this. Get onto linkedin- if you don't have an account you can do some Boolean searching using google and ie.linkedin.com. There is some serious recruiting tools out there for this that are all free.
