Recovering medical expenses

Hi,
its that time of year when I'm sitting down with all my medical receipts and trying to claim back a few pounds.
I have private insurance with Bupa which I guess should be my first port of call.
Someone suggested to me that I can also claim on a MED 1 form, on reading the MED 1 it would appear that this gives me an extra tax credit rather than a cheque, is this correct?

Are these my only two avenues for recouping some of my costs?

Thanks for any help,
Boots

Yes - as far as I know you can only then claim tax relief on otherwise unreimbursed expenses (above the €125 individual or €250 joint claim "excess" limit).

No - if you are due tax back then you should get it as a refund cheque.

I presume you don't qualify for the [broken link removed]?
