Recovering equipment loaned to another company

Hi,

Can someone please shed some light on possible avenues to consider.

In December 2014 I was doing some consultancy work for a factory in Dublin. Some network equipment of theirs failed and I loaned them some to get them out of a hole while they purchased a suitable replacement.

Now there has been a change of leadership in that company and the people I worked for are no longer there and the new leadership are difficult at best. Is there a legal term I could call this, is it theft?

When did you first contact them about collecting your equipment? I'd be tempted to start by invoicing them for the rental of the equipment from that date. Should help to get their attention even if it's unlikely to stick legally

Is this a €50 belkin wireless router or a €1000 cisco managed switch we're talking about?
Is it physically feasible to walk in, collect your property, and walk out (alive)?
How much would the unexpected removal of your property cost the company? I imagine it would leave some office staff unable to work for hours/days? Would it affect production?

Was it an informal loan or was there a written agreement?

It was an informal loan, followed up with an email on the same day.

Give them notice that you will be taking back the equipment on a particular date or else they can buy it from you.

Have you been paid for the services you provided them?
