Reclaiming Professional Services Withholding Tax

I was under the impression that a company could not reclaim PSWT until they submitted their accounts and that it would be set off against their tax liability.

I have just discovered that interim reclaims can be submitted in any year where the tax return for the previous year has been submitted.

So for PSWT deducted in 2008, I could have claimed a refund since last September when I submitted my accounts for calendar 2007.

Am I the only one not to know this?

There are 3 circumstances where you can claim an interim refund:

1. Economic hardship
2. In first year of trading
3. Where the previous years prelim tax liability in paid, the excess will be refunded
