Hi. We received our renewal quote for house insurance and the rebuild cost has increased to 410k according to their figures. I am just trying to work out the rebuild cost for a 1970s bungalow with a large attic conversion (done as part of original construction). The total sq footage is about 2600 however the attic is probably 35% to 40% of this. We completely gutted and renovated this attic in 2008 and it cost in the region of €40k. At this time we were advised by an estate agent to insure the structure at 380k.
Do I calculate the attic as part of the rate per square footage given on the scsi website, or do I just use the ground floor area of approximately 1400sq foot on that rate and then add on the cost of attic conversion?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated as €780 is hard to come by these days.
Thanks
Luna

Hi Luna you can calculate your rebuild value on selfbuildrates.ie and also on scsi.ie, although I think the latter may be for estate type houses only
