Reasonable Quote for plumbing work/batroom renovation?

Hi,

Have recieved a quote for 1000 euro for the following work to be carried out:
1) Fix two cisterns that currently fill very slowly (i.e only fill once a day!)
2) Replace taps in 2 basins and 1 bath
3) install new electric shower over bath (will need electric cables and water pipe to be run down inside of tiled internal wall from attic)
4) install shower door and seals
5) tile up the sides and front of bath (currently plastic sides on bath, will need wooden slats put in, board up and then tile over)
6) Replace tiles on floor of 2.5 metre by 2.5 metre bathroom
7) replace any tiles damaged by installing new shower
8) seal around bath

Would appreciate if posters think this is excessive or reasonable.

I will be supplying all tiles and grouting material, electric shower, shower door and new taps. Tradesman will supply wood and boards to allow bath front and sides to be tiled up.

Cully, this is what I am looking to do, so perhaps keep an eye on it.
 
What is being supplied by fitter?

1 easy fix, probably a partially block ballcock.

2 Maybe 2 hours work

3 could be pain in the behind, depending on distance from shower to fuse board. Pipe to attic maybe stairght forward.

4 easy and hassle free

5 Why wooden slats? MDF is easy to cut and fix. VERY IMPORTANT. Leave an acces panel around tap and waste area. If you have a leak or need to change taps in the future, the work you do now will have to be undone,then redone.

6 Don't know the going rate of tiling at the minute, but have quotes from tilers hanging around here somewhere, will dig them out.

7 can you get the same tiles? There will probably be damage unless there are no cross peices in partation.

8 five mintue job with €5 tube of sealer.


Does the grand include VAT?
 
i agree with davy jones on item 5.. you need to have access panel.. we went for a brushed stainless steel panel as a bath panel and looks great to me

as regards item 8... if you can fit 'classic seal' around edge of bath up under the bottom row of tiles then that would be great.. i dont think you have listed it in your quote but baths used for showers are prone to leakage. We replaced bath about 5 yrs back and have shower over it and never again had problem with leakage down behind the bath, thru ceiling etc.. You will still need the mastic but the classic seal behind it was the biz
