Reasonable builder needed Dublin for insulation

Looking to do some work on my house in Dublin 8, mainly improving the insulation, replacing bathroom and putting in new Shower and loo under the stairs. All quotes so far seem very pricey. Its not a huge job but I need someone competent and qualified to advise on best value way to improve energy efficiency without spending a fortune. Any recommendations?
 
There are many factors which may seem to bring a price for a job in higher than a client may have envisaged.

Did you look for a break down of the quotes to see why the costs may seem to be high?

Are the tradesmen quoting like for like on the materials?

Have you specified a particular bathroom suite/ tile choice etc?

Are they even going to keep their tax affairs in order and carry insurance whilst working on your property?

THanks for the reply. None of the quotes I have got so far include any of the fittings which is why they seem expensive to me. The insulation materials suggested so far have been different so its hard to compare like for like. I wouldn't consider a builder who didn't have insurance so obviously am factoring in that as a cost, although as the job won't take more than 2 - 3 weeks as far as I can see, that would not be a massive part of the quote.
 

Have you had a look here [broken link removed] to see if you qualify for any grants. Have a look at the approved contractors and see if they can quote for the work
