I am looking to invest some money in stocks/shares/property in both the home and overseas markets.
I am interested in China/India/Germany in particular for overseas commercial propery funds and some stocks in Irish companies.
Now the issue I have is that I want to explore my own opinions and want to know how I can assemble a portfolio that I make up myself.
The trouble is that all or most of the main financial players have readymade portfolios that you sign up to.
These are fine in some cases but I would like to research my own profolio and invest on my own research.....am I mad?!!!
Can I go to a stock dealing company and make my own investments worldwide or do I have to sign up to what is on offer?
Can I invest in property funds that would suit my own criteria? Am I allowed to do this? Where do i set this up?
Am I safer putting my money in the hands of the professionals or take the risk myself? or would I be taking on too much?
Can you please give me some pointers as to what is the best approach.
