Rats and Decking!

Have recently noticed holes leading under the decking in my back garden. Purchased a number of rat traps and used peanut butter as bait, since doing so i have successfully caught two rats of varying sizes. Nervous now as to exactly how many rats i could facing, should i be tackling this issue myself. Also the decking seems to lure them and this is possibly going to be a continuing issue so whats the best way to protect the decking and prevent them from getting underneath it. Any suggestions?

Loads of stuff here already on this do a search. Most ideas typically relate to broken class under the deck, poison (laid safely) and concrete around the decks edges where possible to stop them getting in the first place.

Other than the above it wil be a constant battle and usually is for most.
