Hi,

My husband and I have sale agreed on our house and are hoping to move to Raheny/Killester area. We have been recommended the following estates/roads and would appreciate your feedback on them or recommendations on other places to consider.

We have €450k max to spend and appreciate that it will be difficult to get a house for that price in these areas but will not be offering until we are chainfree and in a strong buying position.

We are recently married and want this to be a 3 bed minimum, large garden, family home near schools and amenities. We are expecting to have to renovate and update the house we buy.

Areas recommended:
St. Assams - Raheny
Ennafort - Raheny
Abbeyfield - Killester

all nice estates, also foxfield, betty glen, of the 3 u mention i would go for ennafort but all are nice areas
 
We bought in Ennafort last year & I would recommend it to others. Most of the houses would meet your requirement for a min 3-bed with decent garden. Local amenities are excellent with St Annes Park, Raheny Shopping Centre and the Dart within short walking distance.

Might also be worth considering Brookwood in Artane. It's v close to Ennafort with the same sort of houses, but maybe a little less expensive.
 
Thanks BICIP for the feedback, I will look into those other places. Ennafort currently has a house for sale within range so will go and see it once we have our house sold, assuming it will still be for sale.

Thanks iandel, its great to hear back from somewhere living in Ennafort - it makes me feel alot more confident about looking there.
 
In Raheny, these are nice also:

Maywood
Bettyglen
Foxfield

All quite expensive though. You could look at Ashcroft and St Annes which would be cheaper options.
 
Me again, I have been looking more into the Brookwood area on myhome.ie and as said by a previous poster it is less expensive than Ennafort.

If we were to buy there instead of Ennafort would it be a bit step down in terms of quality of location? Is it still a nice area for raising a family?

Brookwood is still a nice area, quite settled, try to get close to the dart station though if you can. there are a few shops grouped together and a bar, dont think the bar is up to much though. the brookwood area closer to the killester end would be my choice. I used to live in ennafort with the folks and think that its really good. there are fwe houses for sale in there but the inly problem with some of them is that they need a bit of updating. as for other areas in raheny then foxfield/bettyglen etc are all good areas but can be a bit more expensive. good luck with the hunt.

To be honest, it would be difficult to differentiate between the areas you are interested in - all are safe bets. So, its all down to personal taste (style of house), price etc.
 
I find it hard to believe you could find anything in Foxfield or Bettyglen for 450, but Assams is a lovely area. I'm from foxfield, so know this area well & would definitely recommend Assams. You wouldn't have any worries buying in this area. Very safe & friendly.
 

It would be a bit of a step down. Still a very nice area, although the Artane area has been getting a bit of bad publicity since the recent shooting.
 
Thanks for the feedback burger, csirl & sammia.... we are moving for location reasons so are going to aim for the likes of ennafort and assams and see if we can get somewhere in budget. Otherwise we will have to look into areas as close to these as possible, hence the query on Brookwood. Hopefully we wont have to compromise on location.

Sammia, yes I have realised Foxfield and Bettyglen are definitely out of reach after searching on myhome.ie so will be concentrating on a renovation project in estates like the above.

no is the answer to that imo. there is little or no difference between brookwood and ennafort, if it were me i'd go for brookwood for the savings i think
 
Thanks BICIP, I will definitely be looking into Brookwood, not ruling anything out at this stage.

I just came across a house on Maryville Road in St. Annes area - is anyone familiar with this road and have any opinions on it.

I'd agree with this - if given a choice, I'd avoid Brookwood Rise and Brookwood Crescent as too near the council housing on Harmonstown Road. I'd actually rate Brookwood Park and Brookwood Road, Brookwood Meadow & Brookwood Drive ahead of Ennaford. The Park is a cul-de-sac with nice green area. Some of the houses on the Drive have access to a shared private green area to the rear of the houses.

Brookwood Avenue has nice houses, but is a main road.
 
Living next to Maryville Road in St Anne's for almost a year now. Quiet, mature area (and I am very fuzzy about that) - would definitely recommend it.

We aren't going house hunting properly until the sale of our house goes through so I will update the post with how we get on in due course!

Hi Mr. D, Had you posted about a property in St. Brigids Grove? I think someone had questioned if you had a connection with property/estate agent since you only had 1 post....so maybe thats the reason the posts are gone. I dont know though.

Anyway we are more interested in Raheny to be honest. Also starting to look into Bayside/Sutton and Baldoyle to see what they have to offer. We are moving because of location reasons so hope we get it right!

Our house hunting continues and we are slowly narrowing down areas, however have come to a bit of a dilemma between 2 areas.

As you may have noticed, I posted about a house in Sutton Park (bayside/kilbarrick area) - had a walk around the area and really like it, however had a couple of concerns on shops area and train station which Brighid kindly gave me feedback on and overall I am still very interested in sutton park.

The dilemma is that before we saw sutton park we were really happy with Raheny as a location and had ennafort/assams/foxfield in our sights.

I was hoping to get some feedback about these 2 different areas to try and help me form an overall opinion. Brighid has given me great feedback on Sutton park so I suppose my real question is how does it compare to raheny as a location for bringing up a family.

Any feedback very much appreciated.
