Quick question regarding a lease agreement

Sorry if this is a stupid question ....

If I am creating a lease agreement between myself as landlord and a tenant, who should sign as witness - anyone, such as my wife, my next door neighbour?

Should it be a guard or a solicitor???

It can be anyone but it's best to have someone who is independent and has no interest in the property, just in case there's a dispute.
