Questions relating to house sale and purchase of new house.

I am thinking of moving house and I am looking for up to date information on the following:
1. Solicitors who work for a set fee to handle the legal work involved in buying and selling a house.
2. What taxes (stamp duty etc) have to be paid when buying or selling a house?
3. Is there a list of cheap BER assesors ?
4. Is there a list of recommended building assesors?
