Citizens information says:

If you have been resident for the previous three tax years then you become ordinarily resident from the start of the fourth year. If you leave the country, you will continue to be ordinarily resident until you have been non-resident for three continuous tax years.

My question is, I have been resident for 3 previous years in Ireland, but for only w of these years did I pay tax (as I was not working previously).

Does this have a bearing on my ordinary residence status?

Eg, university student from 2009-2014, not working
Working 2014-2015
Left Ireland and haven't been tax resident since.

Having not been resident for 3 tax years but not paying income tax...does it have a bearing?

Residence or non-residence is established by physical presence or absence of physical presence in the State regardless of income.
