Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for how much income tax we can expect to pay on the 2 bed apartment we had rented to our tenant for the full year 2012?
We are both working and paying top rate of tax. Last year we broke even with our return because the apartment was only rented out for the last quarter of 2011. I've been told we could be liable for a couple of thousand, does that sound right?

Well it's the amount of rent less mortgage interest x 75% (if registered with PRTB), management fees, insurance, PRTB fees ect to give you the profit. Then deduct capital allowances and multiply by 52%. So the result is different for everyone,
