query on medical expenses refund

hi,

i have just got my balancing statement from 2010, and don't understand it at all!

we had lots of medical expenses, 11.5k to be precise, leading to an overpayment of just over 4110 euro.

but the refund we got was only 191 euro? why would this be? the statement clearly says "overpayment".

i'm going to call them in the morning, but any input would be much appreciated!

edit: if this is relevant, we are jointly assessed, i am a high earner and my wife a low earner.

Does the balancing statement clearly show a refund due of 4110 at the end yeah? Im guessing the 191e might be your wifes element and the balance will be refunded to you. See this in Form 11 returns all the time but not sure re balancing statements.
