spouse aged 56 has approx 2 years stamps as nurse in the 70's. has been a housewife since. She has an income as joint owner from dividends in plc. shares (and from some shares solely in her own name).

Would she be allowed make the return of this income in her own name and pay a p.r.s.i. levy (i think approx 280 euro) per year and would this qualify her for contributory pension? (at present time dividends are all being returned in husbands name - joint assessment)
thanks in advance for any reply

hi cream, i think your spouse has to have used so many stamps a contributory pension means you have to have paid so much tax to the state in a lifetime non-contributory means you have paid nothing at all. your spouse will be means tested anyway
