I have had a terrible experience with VM after being a upc customer for 8 years - never again. So I am looking for alternatives. Sky is out as my TV is in an awkward spot and it would mean unsightly wiring from the dish. I had a sky engineer out years ago and he agreed (no attic etc) - house was wired for UPC when I bought it. Also I think sky is €€€ for what I want.

Basically I want good broadband, mostly use catch up players on smart tv/now tv or recorded tv - rarely watch live tv. I also never had a landline installed and Eir have offered to do this free of charge. They say I am near the cabinet so should get close to the 100mb. I am out of contract with Three also so can port my mobile to eir giving me all 4 services for €25 for 1st year of a 2 year contract - €92 thereafter (still a good saving).

They are assuring me no wires required as they use home plugs.

Ask Eir on boards.ie is full of complaints but I know people only post here to complain.

So is anyone using Eir here and is happy?
Is vodafone a viable alternative? Their tv looks very slick.
