putting pebble stones in driveway

hi all, i have some pebbles i would like to put down on my driveway,my driveway is concrete with cracks in some places that has grass and weeds growing up trough it .i was told that if i pour hot tar over the whole area and scatter some stones over that before i put down more stones that it would keep weeds and grass growing up trough it .has anybody tried this before and had resulte any rely with help is much appreciated cheers

I think t do it properly you need to lay a weed membrane .also need to make sure you have proper drainage. search pebble driveway on the site.there are a few posts on it
