Putting Cooker under Wall Press

I would normally avoid this at all costs, but I'm really stuck for a quick and easy solution solution to make the Kitchen more user friendly.

Steam is the main problem but have that anyway, but would putting the cooker under a wall press cause much extra pain.... I was going to put a cooker hood under the press but the press is too low for that.

I presume this cooker will have a hob, there is a minimum clearance distance required over hobs, I don't think you'll achieve this with a wall unit over it.

That really isn't a good idea I'm afraid.

I know........ it was kind of a last resort, anyway have decided to cut a section of the overhead press off and then can fit a hood over cooker as well.

I need one small (500mm) floor unit, with two white melanie doors attached as an infill.

Would the kitchen companies or the likes of Homebase etc supply me with this?. Could look around for 2nd hand but that could take ages.

The likes of Homebase etc., will offer you what's in their catalogue, and they may not have anything to suit. A cabinet maker (or a good DIYer at a stretch) will be able to make or customise a cabinet and doors to suit.

Why dont you just put in the cookerhood ommitting the press. i find people have far too many presses which leads to presses filling up with waste/papers etc. Clean and proper storage leads to a much more efficient kitchen.

Possibly not a help but I found in my kitchen (have a large floorspace in my kitchen but actually a very small actual kitchen (units etc) built. I ommitted the idea of the three drawer unit as I found really handy drawers in B&Q that one fits into the 600 and 300 cabinet (Disadvantage some might say is that anytime you want a fork etc you need to open the cupboard door). Perhaps youv some things like a winerack cabinet that could become a door unit instead etc. Iv a 300 cabinet that came with three shelves which how has five shelves for glasses and dessert bowls. Iv seen people having cups in a 600 unit with only one shelf, pure waste of space.

Id go to a few kitchen designers with what space you have etc and get their ideas as they "can" be brillant. Good luck with it.

Thanks guys for the suggestions, I'm trying to do this really cheap and a standard 500mm base units will be grand. (very little storage as it is) and this unit will act as a heat barrier between the fridge and the cooker.

The Fridge/Freezer at the moment is under the stair so it will be a big improvement.

You will get a 500mm base unit off the shelf, but i doubt if you'll find two 250mm doors. no problem getting a 500mm white door

sorry that was an error on my part, it is of course one door.

If budget is a consideration you could get an extractor fan rather than an entire hood, which would go under a cabinet so you would still have some storage space (this is what I have myself). I think you would need to get a special fan cabinet rather than a normal cabinet, but it would still be a cost and space effective solution.
