A relative will be 66 in June 2012 and will require at least 520 PRSI contributions in order to qualify for the old age contributory pension. He can pay voluntary contributions but is unsure of the date that these voluntary contributions can be accepted from. The last date he was compulsory insured was the 23rd August 2008 and the last time he received credits was the 5th February 2009. In order to qualify for the pension he needs to start paying his voluntary contributions from Aug 08. He is getting conflicting information as to which date is acceptable. Does anyone know what date voluntary contributions are acceptable from ie is it from the week in which you leave compulaory insurance or the last time you receive credits?
