Not sure whether this belongs here or in Welfare & State Benefits, but anyway...
I was submitting my 2020 tax return earlier and my husband was on PUP for most of the year. He is a self-employed professional. His total assessable income fell below the €5000 so no PRSI charged. Obviously we want to keep up his PRSI record in case there is still a state pension in 20 years or so but we are unsure whether he gets a stamp for PUP (and if so whether the fact that he had about 42 instead of 52 weeks will matter) or whether he should contact DSP to make a voluntary contribution.
The COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment was for employees and self-employed people who had lost employment during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Hi Ciru75, thanks for that but we were wondering whether the fact that he won't have 52 credits for the year will be a problem. Is there any way to "buy" the other 10?
