PRSI Tax credit as Director in Northern Irish company

Hi there,

I have a question regarding the PAYE tax credit for company directors. I have been asked to be chairperson/director of a Northern Ireland charity that is just setting up. I am currently resident in Rep of Ireland, and working in full time PAYE employment here. If I took this position it would be a voluntary position so I intend to remain resident and working in Rep of Ireland. The position is part time and voluntary, and therefore I would not be paid and I would presume I would not have any shares in it.

So here's my question. I know that you lose your PAYE tax credit as a company director in Rep. Of Ireland but does this apply if I am the chairperson or director of a charity or company in Northern Ireland and residing and working in PAYE employment here in Rep of Ireland?

Thanks in advance for your help,

You will receive your PAYE tax credit as long as you have PAYE income from a "normal" employment (not a proprietory director).
