PRSI contributions when on maternity

Can some one tell me if I was on maternity leave and I claimed the maternity benefiit from welfare and my employer paid the balance of my salary each month should i have ad 52 insurable weeks on my P60. It only reads 24?? I have been on to Welafare Prsi information, maternity benefit section but they dont know. Just want to have my facts before i go into wages.

Sorry to slightly change the subject...

While on maternity benefit, you are credited with PRSI contributions. However, I have recently been told that such PRSI CREDITS do not count towards eligibility for future maternity benefit (e.g. 18 weeks' credits in 2005 can't be counted towards the 39 needed for that year to qualify for benefit this year, when another baby is coming) - they need to be PAID PRSI contributions.

Anyone ever hear of this before?
