Provider Question

Firstly, excuse my ignorance, but is Chorus now NTL? Secondly, when we moved into our house last year in North Kerry we rang to get Chorus but they said it was not piped in to our estate. However, I thought you could get it some other way? We now have Sky which I think is very expensive and has too many channels (too many crappy channels anyway) and am looking at changing provider. Again, forgive my ignorance in this these matters.

NTL is Chorus but stick with sky as NTL reception and customer service aint the best at all

generalisation or personal experience?

OP - my experience of UPC-Ireland (Chorus-NTL) is very good. Any issues I have had have been resolved quickly when I ring their Customer Support. Their reception is fine. BTW I am in Laois. Their reception may vary according to region.

I know plenty of people who have had good-bad experiences with them. Equally so I know plenty of people who have had good-bad experiences with Sky.

Ring up UPC and ask is it possible to get MMDS (their version of the Sky satelite dish).

Edit: BTW UPC have recently increases their prices so it might be worth staying with Sky, they do provide a lot more channells (but will you ever watch them all). Compare the Sky price with the UPC equivalent package if you can.

good luck!!

If I had the choice I would go with Sky, But I can only get Chorus (UPC) in my Apt.
It is not too bad @ all but can suffer some signal issues. The range of channels is not as good as sky - but as mentioned above will you watch all of them???
The PVR box that chorus have now is good - but not as good as Sky's Sky+ box. and sky have a few HD channels, UPC have none

The Sky menu system is better IMO, but UPC is not too far behind and you can still watch your program while browsing the menu

Hope that helps
