Has there been any movement on this does anyone know? I see that the term "Architect" is now protected and just wondered what the hold up is on getting the term accountant protected?

Maybe because there are too many accountancy institutes???

Re: Protecting the term "Accountant"

Not aware of any movement on this. There was a lot of discussion over it when the CLRG report came out but nothing seems to be happening that I've heard of. I don't think that the number of institutes should have a bearing. They all agreed on and ran with the "Registered Auditor" status when that was initiated under CA'90 so this should not be a difficult thing to put to bed. It is important especially now that some smaller practices are ceasing audit work and running as accountants only.
